iPad Air 3 Pegged for March 15 Release

Apple is reportedly hosting a major event next month to launch its iPad Air 3, along with other new tech offerings.

The Cupertino, California company is expected to hold the launch event on March 15 where it will be introducing the iPad Air 3 alongside its new 4-inch smartphone, the iPhone 5se.

The iPad Air 3 marks Apple’s first major upgrade to its tablet line since the 9.7-inch iPad Air 2 made its debut back in October 2014, 9 to 5 Mac noted.

The new iPad Air 3 is expected to feature most of the iPad Pro’s specs, including enhanced speakers, and Smart Connector support, which points to the presence of a smaller Smart Keyboard on the slate.

Based on unconfirmed leaked schematics from Apple’s case maker suppliers, there may be the possibility of a rear camera LED flash, and a quad-speaker setup for audio. However, according to mobile phone industry analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPad Air 3 will not be sporting the 3D Touch feature, a report from Mac World mentioned.

No information has yet been disclosed on a possible price tag for the upcoming super-thin tablet, however, it is rumored to be on the high end of the scale, but not as expensive as the iPad Pro.

Next month’s launch will be Apple’s first media event since September, and will reportedly feature three major product lines from the company.

Among the new products will be the iPhone 5se, which is geared to replace the iPhone 5s. The 4-inch special edition iPhone will feature an A9 chip, an upgraded set of cameras, Live Photo support, and the Apple Pay app.

According to a Time Magazine report, the iPhone 5se will retail starting at $450 for its 16GB model.

Alongside the iPad Air 3 and the iPhone 5se, the tech giant is also planning to launch its Apple Watch 2 as part of the third category in its product lineup.
