The arrest of four men in a hotel in Seacaucus, New Jersey for possession and possible sale of illegal drugs is reportedly the biggest bust in the history of the state. A three-month investigation by joint law enforcers from New York and New Jersey netted $2.4 million worth of drugs which were being prepared for massive distribution into the hands of hungry drug users. There were also suspicions of links to the Mexican cartels.

Pix 11 said that the operations were orchestrated by by the New Jersey State Police Trafficking North Unit, the New York Drug Enforcement Task Force, the New York City Police Department and New York State Police. It led to the arrests of four suspects who came from different states: Oscar Rene Felix, 38, of Menifee, Calif., and John Ulloa, 35, of the Bronx; Anthony Ross Koon, 54, of Pueblo, Colo., and Alan Martin Alderman, 71, of Las Vegas, Nevada. Both Felix and Ulloa have been charged with the conspiracy to distribute heroin, while both Koon and Alderman have been charged with heroin possession and possessin with intention to distribute. All four men are currently detained in the Hudson County Jail.

The New York Daily News adds that the raid yielded $14,000 in cash and 31 kilograms of heroin stashed in duffel bags. Drug Enforcement Administration Erin Mulvey said that the drugs were obviously intended for distribution in the tri-state area. New Jersey State Police Sergeant Jeff Flyn said that the drug bust is  "one of the largest seizures of heroin in the state's history."

A report by NewsDay added that the drugs were believed to have come from the Mexican cartels, and passed through California enroute to New Jersey. They would then have been distributed to the Bronx. State officials will lead the prosecution against the suspects.
