Price drop for the Google Nexus 5x, additional US$50 off in time for Valentine's Day

Google drops another US$ 50 off the price of their Nexus 5X, just as Valentines' Day rolls around the corner.

CNET reports that an unlocked Google Nexus 5X now retails at US$ 299 for the 16GB unit and US$ 349 for the 32 GB unit.  If you plan to go for the larger Nexus 6P, Google is also slashing US$ 50 off the prices of the gold matte version.  It now retails for US$ 449 and US$ 499 for the Nexus 6P 16GB and 32GB respectively.

According Engadget, Google originally lowered the retail price for the Nexus 5X to US$ 349 and US$ 399 for the 16GB and 32Gb models respectively.  The additional US$ 50 price cut is just in time for Valentines' Day for people who wish to get a cheap, well received and contract free device.

Starting January 12 of this year, the Nexus 5X has been available for purchase at Google's online store. There are some reports that, due to buzz created by the severe price cuts, the Nexus 5X has been selling like hotcakes and is now out of stock.

To those lucky enough to snag a unit, the guys over at Mashable reports that buying a Nexus 5X gets comes with a free case and buying a Nexus 6P comes with a whooping US$ 50 credit when you purchase a Huawei smartwatch.

The discounted prices for the Google Nexus 5X is also available in Europe. Several European countries have been retailing the Nexus 5X at €349, a discount of €80 from the original price of €429.

Those living in the United Kingdom may have a bit of wait before the price cuts come to their shores. Google has no official mention of price cuts over there and the Nexus 5X and 6P still retails at £299 and £449, respectively.

The US$ 50 off the Google Nexus 5X ends on February 12, 2016.
