‘Baby Fight Club’: Virginia daycare teacher found guilty of child abuse

A former Virginia daycare teacher was found guilty on multiple counts of abuse charges after initiating a “baby fight club” inside her classroom at Minnieland Academy.

The New York Daily News reported that Sarah Jordan, 31, was convicted for child cruelty, among other charges. The report cites that the court ruled against Jordan for traumatizing her 16-month to 2 year-old toddler students. She was sentenced to face more than forty years in prison.

Jordan’s sentencing comes after a Sept. 2013 report by the Virginia Department of Social Services which accused her of child abuse for at least six months.

The probe against Jordan and a fellow teacher, Kierra Spriggs, revealed that they would encourage a fight between babies, while also “roughing-up” some of the kids herself.

Per Telegraph UK, testimonies that were heard in court also revealed that Jordan tripped them, stepped on their toes and physically and emotionally abused them to entertain herself.

Jordan even gave a young girl negative comments about her looks, telling her that she was ‘ugly’ and ‘looked like a rat’.

Social services reported that Jordan targeted toddlers who were scared of water. She sprayed them in their faces using a high-pressure hose, and sometimes pour buckets of water on them.

Due to Jordan’s abusing, parents shared that their children showed violent behavior, while others became terrified of water.

After learning the verdict, the parents said that they were “happy” with the outcome – Independent UK cited in a report.

“The teacher was making him the class bully made to fight. It was hard to hold back tears, emotional, it was very deep. She knows what she did. Justice has prevailed,” commented a parent from Jordan’s class.

Jordan was convicted of 13 offences after the trial. At present, the parents are considering to file a class-action lawsuit against Minnieland Academy.
