LG G5 Specs, Release: Leaked Diagram Reveals Metallic Design, Changes in Placement of Buttons and More

By

LG Electronics' G5 has been all over the internet recently as a leaked diagram revealed its possible appearance and specifications. Among the unveiled features are its metallic design, changed placement of buttons and more.

According to International Business Times, the Mobile World Congress 2016 is forthcoming and many flagship handsets are expected to be unveiled days before, after and during the event. The LG's much awaited G5 is apparently one of those who are much awaited to be launched.

In fact, many tech enthusiasts are already excited to see the upcoming unit especially its appearance as it will reportedly feature a brand new design. Unlike the plastic chassis clad LG G4, the successor will boast a full-metal body.

The leaked diagram of the unit revealed that the volume buttons have been moved to the side of the device while the power button is positioned at the back, beneath the camera unit. A single speaker can also be seen at the tail-end of the device and the regular 3.5 mm headphone jack is at the top.

Android Authority further stated that the diagram unveiled G5 to be thinner, taller and wider than the current G-series flagship. It was noted that the LG G4 measures 148.9 x 76.1 x 6.3-9.8mm while the G5 is predicted to be at 149.4 x 73.9 x 8.2mm.

Moreover, TechnoBuffalo reported that there are talks suggesting that LG is going to provide some sort of unique battery mechanism, wherein the battery would slide out from the bottom part of the LG G5. This would be a very different approach, but would at least give plans with the option to replace the battery with a fully-charged one on the run.

Apart from those, speculations also have it that the LG G5 will have a Magic Slot for accessories, just like possible VR headsets. Perhaps this is LG's take on modular phones, or in the least the beginning steps towards that design type.

As for other predicted features, it reportedly include a Snapdragon 820 processor, USB-C, 16MP/8MP cameras, an IR blaster, a microSD card slot, 3GB of RAM, and a Quad HD display.

As usual, these are not yet confirmed by LG and should be treated with just a pinch of salt. However, more concrete details are expected to surface as the Mobile World Congress 2016 nears. Once released, LG Electronics' G5 is expected to go head to head with Samsung's Galaxy S7 which is also lined up for release this year.
