Delaware Man Charged With 6th DUI After Traffic Stop

By

William Terry, who resides in Bridgeville, was recently arrested for his 6th driving under the influence felony. The Delaware man was reportedly stopped by the authorities for driving 78mph in a 55mph zone.

According to Fox News, the police had a warrant of arrest for the 51-year-old man who made an overspeeding violation on January 11. Laurel police Officer Christopher Story claims the man has been seized for mandatory blood testing to investigate his state, but the driver reportedly refused to submit to the field tests; hence, the arrest.

In a report from Wral.com, it was cited that it was not the first time for Terry to be arrested. When he was taken into custody following the arrest, it was discovered that the Delaware man was previously convicted with five other DUI felonies and other additional issues since 1990.

As reported by ABC News, authorities claimed that Terry was also driving the vehicle without the automobile ignition interlock device he was required to have as a result of his past DUI charges.

Several investigations and trials shall be conducted for his 6th DUI case. In the meantime, he was ordered to be held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on a secured bond.

If convicted of class D felony, Terry may be fined not less than $5,000 nor more than $10,000 and be imprisoned not less than 5 years nor more than 8 years. Loss of one's license for a minimum of 1 year up to 30 months; a mandatory installation of an Ignition Interlock device on one's vehicle for a minimum of 48 months after  initial license suspension period; an alcohol/drug education for up to 15 months; and a drug and alcohol abstinence for not less than 90 consecutive days enforced via a transdermal monitoring device are also mandatory if found guilty.
