HTC One M9, Moto X Play and BlackBerry Priv Receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA Update

Ever since the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update was released, it has been gradually rolled t to smartphones from different manufacturers. The HTC One M9, Moto X Play and BlackBerry Priv are the most recent units to receive the software upgrade by Google.

According to Latin Post, Moto X Play owners in Brazil and India have sent screen captures of the updated software information. This move is to verify that the Android Marshmallow operating upgrade has at least started to roll out to those particular handsets in above mentioned countries. This puts the Moto X Play, in those two major markets, ahead of its closest U.S. equivalent in the Android update race.

Aside from the Moto X Play, Tech News Today cited other Motorola handsets that are scheduled to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. The list includes Moto X Pure Edition, DROID Turbo, Moto MAXX, Moto Turbo, Moto G, Moto G 4G, Moto X Style, Moto X Force, Moto G, Moto G Turbo, Moto E, DROID Turbo 2, and Moto MAXX 2.

As for the HTC One M9, Neurogadget reported that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update has been released for the unit. As of the moment, the over-the-air update is available for the HTC One M9 devices located in Taiwan, but the update will definitely reach One M9 handsets in other countries and regions very soon.

The One M8, One E8, One M8 Eye, Desire 820, Desire 816, One M9 Plus, One E9 Plus, One E9, One ME, Butterfly 3 and Desire 826 are also expected to get the Marshmallow update.

Meanwhile, another handset that is reported to obtain the Android M is the BlackBerry Priv. This device was released in November 2015 on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The first Android BlackBerry handset is rumored to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update soon.

In fact, Ron Louks, BlackBerry's executive, stated that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update release date for BlackBerry Priv will be publicized sometime in the first quarter of 2016. Users of the device could expect the official announcement in a few months. That being said, the release date of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update on the BlackBerry Priv device may arrive sometime in the second quarter of 2016.

Though HTC One M9, Moto X Play and BlackBerry Priv are already confirmed for the Marshmallow update, the predicted and even the promised schedules of the companies are still open for changes. Hopefully, those handsets which were not mentioned, will be given the go signal for the Android 6.0 as well.
