Police officers in Seattle have arrested a couple of suspects who have been linked to the murder of Brent McDonald, a teacher and artist loved by the locals. The arrests made on Friday involved two individuals, a 55-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman. They were suspected to be involved in the murder of McDonald last Dec.13, 2015.

The shooting occurred in Belltown last Dec.13 and killed McDonald. The incident was reported to occur around 3 am and prompted police officers to the address of 2100 block of 3rd Avenue and Virginia Street. They responded to a phone call report of gunshots fired in the area. When the police arrived in the address, they found the victim lying on a sidewalk and had a gunshot wound. The police performed CPR on McDonald before he was rushed to the Harborview Medical Center. Unfortunately, the much loved artist did not make it. Friends of the victim believe that he was heading home after a night of playing pinball before he was shot.

According to police, the man will be booked while he is under investigation for the murder while the woman will be booked for providing criminal assistance. As of this writing, homicide detectives still do not know what the motive is for the murder of the victim. They are asking for information from any witnesses as they continue to work on the case.

McDonald was a popular youth mentor and artist. He worked at the Coyote Central, a non-profit group, where he has served as a mentor for hundreds of middle-school children for 10 years. The artwork McDonald has done with his students can be spotted throughout Seattle. Friends and family of the artist gathered at Langston Hughes in Seattle to commemorate the life of Brent McDonald. His longtime partner and teenage daughter were part of those who attended the memorial.
